Hoss had a very unhappy day and went home full of resentment. However, Hoss's mother knew how to deal with the resentment - by making a pot of "angry soup"! Look at this mother. First she doesn’t criticize, second she doesn’t teach, and third she doesn’t ask questions. She knew that there was no point in discussing "codes of conduct for children" on such occasions. And anger is a natural human right. Children should not suppress their emotions, but should teach them to self-direct.

The little boy Hoss was having a very unhappy day. He came home angry. However, his mother said that she wanted to make soup. As the water boiled, the mother shouted at the pot and she asked the little boy to do the same. They also grinned at the pot, stuck out their tongues, and banged the pot loudly. Finally, the little boy smiled and felt much happier.

Sometimes, children are inevitably in negative emotions. Adults should try to understand and accept children's emotions, and at the same time help children find appropriate channels for expression. This is a taste worth savoring when reading this book with your children.

About the Author

Betsy Everitt was born in Los Angeles in August 1962. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California in 1986. She is good at creating gouache paintings with gouache pigments, and has outstanding performance in magazines, books, advertisements, packaging, clothing, web design and other aspects. "Angry Soup" is a picture book that she wrote and drew based on her personal experience as creative inspiration. It has bright colors and is full of exaggerated humor.
